The Park Bridge Residents’ Action Group & Fund committee met this week for our first quarterly meeting of 2026, reflecting on a strong start to the year and agreeing clear priorities for the months ahead.
Strengthening our foundations
We’re pleased to confirm that our community bank account is now live, giving us the ability to manage funds transparently and responsibly.
Work is underway to enable online donations via our website, helping support small but meaningful improvements such as community safety signage, volunteer equipment and local events.
Community action in practice
January’s community litter pick showed the very best of Park Bridge, with 46 volunteers coming together to remove a significant amount of litter from the village.
Building on this success, Park Bridge Residents’ Action Group & Fund plan to hold regular bi-monthly litter picks, with the next likely to align with the national Great British Spring Clean in March.
Road Safety: Evidence, not excuses
Road safety remains one of our biggest concerns. We are continuing to engage with the Council about recent speed survey results and have asked for more detail so residents can better understand the findings.
Alongside this, we have launched a Road Safety Incident Log, allowing residents and visitors to report near misses, dangerous driving and non-injury collisions that are not captured in official statistics.
We are also gathering independent traffic data to help build a fuller, evidence-based picture of how the road through Park Bridge is used.
The Future of the Heritage Centre
We remain committed to seeing the Park Bridge Heritage Centre reopened as a community asset. While we are not in a position to take on the building ourselves, we continue to work constructively with Tameside Council, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and a third-party charity interested in the site, to explore a sustainable, community-focused future.
Caring for the River Medlock
The River Medlock is central to Park Bridge’s history and environment. We are exploring funding opportunities to support community river monitoring, improve riverbank safety, restore a disused pond and viewing platform, and tackle fly-tipped waste in and around the river corridor.
